Give Dad some Bling for his BBQ

Saturday, June 6th, 2009

Are you planning on getting dad another tie for Father’s day?  Or maybe another drill bit to add his ever-growing collection?  Or a coupon for the local car wash to get his car detailed.  All of them are very good ideas.  They’re also very boring.  How about spicing up dad’s day with some bling?

Now, we’re not suggesting getting dad another stud for his belly button or a coupon to the local tattoo parlor.  No, we’re suggesting barbecue bling.  Isn’t his barbecue grill what dad really loves (beside you, of course)?  Sure, he’s got all of the accoutrements that he needs, but let’s put need aside and just talk fun and frivolous.

  • How about a branding iron?  You can have one personalized with his initials or favorite sports team and he can use it to sear his meat.  Oooh, sounds like fun, right?
  • A barbecue tool-kit contains knives, sharpeners, tongs, spatulas, brushes and scrubbers.  No self-respecting barbecue guru goes without.
  • Get his motor running, with gadgets that are all motor-equipped.  Consider a motorized hot dog griller - just like the kind in the food court!  Or how about a motorized cleaning tool - no more scrubbing!
  • Heat him up with a gift of hot sauce.  Men love to make the claim that they can withstand the hottest pepper known to man.  Put his mouth where his words are and get him one of the hottest hot sauces known to man; look for words like Volcano, Caldera, Death and Mega Death, Insanity and DaBomb.

And never forget the ultimate Father’s Day gift - the barbecue apron - with or without the cheesy “Kiss the Cook” sentiment imprinted on the front, it’s a keeper.
